Astbury, Marks lift Eagles to win

BLUE HILL – Josh Astbury scattered one run on two hits while striking out nine and walking only four in a complete-game effort as George Stevens Academy eked out a 2-1 high school baseball victory over Stearns of Millinocket Monday.

Lucas Marks had two doubles and knocked in a run while Jesse Ingraham doubled and singled for the Eagles.

Travis Deabay and Jeff Osborne both singled for the Minutemen.

Machias 11, East Grand 1

At East Machias, freshman Matt Little allowed just two hits and one walk and no earned runs while striking out 11 to lead Machias to victory.

Matt Little and Michael Little each doubled and singled to drive in two runs for Machias. Mike Jenkins added a double and a single with an RBI.

Kaleb Dicker and Sean Stevenson singled for East Grand of Danforth.

At Jonesport, John Deacon, Scott Geel and Josh Gillespie combined on a four-hitter, striking out 11 and walking four as Calais triumphed in six innings.

Geel paced the Blue Devils’ attack with a double and a single. Jordan Leeman had two singles, Keegan McCormick tripled and Jamey Farley doubled.

Sean Milliken doubled and singled for Jonesport-Beals with Andrew Beal and Harold Lyons each adding a single.

At Belfast, Zac Carr hit a two-run home run in the second inning to help lift Belfast over Lincoln Academy of Newcastle.

Bryce Ridley hit an RBI double for Belfast.

Gavin Joannides had two singles including a two-run single in the seventh inning for Lincoln Academy and Luke Alley added an RBI single.

At Searsport, Josh Nickerson and Nate Adams combined to pitch a one-hit shutout, allowing three walks and striking out five to lead Searsport past Deer Isle-Stonington.

Tom Cameron hit a two-run homer in the fifth inning for Searsport and Matt Bagley had three singles and an RBI.

Ben Hardie singled in the third inning for DI-Stonington.

At Sabattus, Ben Raven hit three singles and scored four runs to lift Mount View of Thorndike over Oak Hill.

Ethan Jean had a double and two singles with a run driven in for Mount View and Cody Raven added two singles and two runs scored.

Brandon Plourde singled twice and knocked in Oak Hill’s only run.

At Machias, Amber Scoville and Jordan Ranke each had a hit and a pair of RBIs as Machias cruised past East Grand.

Ariel Knights had two singles and two RBIs for the Dragons and Julia Nicholas added a two-run single. Marlene Flaherty and Bassett each hit an RBI single.

Ruby Beal hit a two-run single in the third inning for Shead.

At Belfast, senior Stephanie Whittier allowed one run on six hits and one walk while striking out 11 to lift Belfast over Lincoln Academy of Newcastle.

Brooke Reed and Whittier each had two singles and an RBI for Belfast. Brianna Webster added two singles and a run scored.

Sam Flint hit an RBI double in the third inning for Lincoln Academy and Kassie Lincoln had two singles and scored a run.

Hollie Stanwood had a home run and a double while Lana Sargent had three singles for Sumner. Kayla Higgins, Clarissa West and Ashley Pennartz each doubled and singled.

At Searsport, Anika Powers singled three times, doubled and drove in two runs to lift the Mariners to the win.

Lindsey Mingo singled three times with three RBIs to spark Calais. Tessa Clark singled twice with two RBIs and Alex McVicar tripled.

Loser Brittany Alley singled for Jonesport-Beals.
