A national company is installing automated DVD rental kiosks at grocery stores across the country, including in Maine.
Redbox Automated Retail LLC says it is placing its red kiosks at Shaw’s Supermarkets throughout New England following a recent agreement with Shaw’s parent company, SUPERVALU.
Redbox is owned by Coinstar Inc., McDonald’s Ventures LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of McDonald’s Corp., and private investors.
By the end of this month, redbox will be available at nearly 185 Shaw’s locations throughout Maine, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont. Consumers can check out redbox DVDs for $1 per night and return DVDs to any redbox kiosk nationwide.
Each redbox DVD rental kiosk holds more than 500 DVDs, representing more than 70 different new release titles. Consumers use a touch screen to select their movie and use a credit or debit card to pay. They can keep the DVD for as long as they would like for $1 per night plus tax, and return it to any redbox kiosk nationwide.
A complete list of locations can be found at www.redbox.com.
