BALNEARIO CAMBORIU, Brazil – University of Maine freshman Lauren Forgues of Boothbay finished first for the United States and third overall in the junior women’s 10K racewalk Sunday at the 23rd Pan American Racewalk Cup. Athletes from Brazil, Columbia, Ecuador, Puerto Rico and the U.S. competed.

Forgues’ time of 51 minutes, 39 seconds was 15 seconds behind first-place Janeth Guaman (51.24) of Ecuador and seven seconds behind Leslie Gauvita (51.32) of Columbia. Forgues led the U.S. to a third place team finish.

Air Force Capt. Kevin Eastler of Farmington led the U.S. men’s 20K team to a third-place finish. Eastler finished first for the U.S. and seventh overall with a time of 1:29.47. Olympic champion Jefferson Perez of Ecuador won in 1:25.08.
