Two Mainers have been honored with New England Emmy Award nominations this year, and they both work at Fox Sports Net New England.

Addison native and Narraguagus High School graduate Barry Alley has received his third New England Emmy nomination and Rumford native Gary Tanguay has his fifth.

A videographer for Fox Sports Net New England, Alley has been nominated along with five other FSNNE co-workers for their work in producing the FSNNE special on Boston Celtic Hall of Fame player and coach Tommy Heinsohn.

The special (“Tommy: Forever Green”) was nominated in the sports one-time special category. It is one of five nominations for FSNNE. This marks the 15th consecutive year FSNNE has received at least one New England Emmy nomination.

The 30th annual Boston/New England Emmy Awards ceremony will take place May 12 in Boston.

Alley has a knack for turning Celtic green into Emmy gold. He won an Emmy as the primary photographer on FSNNE’s retrospective program on former Celtics president, coach, and general manager Red Auerbach titled “Legend of Red” two years ago.

“I was hoping to get one,” Alley said. “It’s nice to be nominated, even if you don’t win.”

The 31-year-old graduate of Bangor’s New England School of Broadcasting is the regional cable/satellite network’s primary cameraman for its Boston Celtics TV coverage. This is his 12th year in the business and seventh with FSNNE.

Alley will miss the awards ceremony as he’s coming to Bangor May 12 to receive a lifetime achievement award from NESB (now New England School of Communications).

“Actually, I’ve never attended the Emmys yet, and it’s kind of worked out well that way,” said Alley. “I’m excited.”

Tanguay, 41, has been nominated along with FSNNE Mohegan Sun Sports Tonight co-host Greg Dickerson for his acting/talent work on an FSNNE-produced commercial called “Take Home a Tundra” for a promotional network contest, which was won by Old Town native Jon Carson.

“It’s a big surprise, to be honest with you. No one even thought twice about it,” said Tanguay. “Greg and I just went out there and ad-libbed it and they just rolled the camera.

“We’ve been nominated a bunch of times for Sports Tonight, but we never win,” said Tanguay. “It’s great to be nominated, but I really don’t care about them, to be honest.”

The University of Maine alumnus and former Biddeford radio announcer is also a studio host for FSNNE Celtics telecasts and for Boston radio station WBCN’s New England Patriots Rock Radio Network broadcasts.

FSNNE also received nominations for sporting event or game-live/unedited (Boston Celtics basketball), writer-short form (Sports Tonight), and set design (Mohegan Sun Sports Tonight).
