Student from Belfast to spend year in Spain

BELFAST – Belfast Area High School Junior Miriam Baldwin of Belfast has been chosen to participate in Rotary International’s Youth Exchange program during the 2007-2008 school year. She will be traveling to Spain in August, representing the Belfast Area Rotary Club, according to club member Cynthia Dalton.

BELFAST – Belfast Area High School Junior Miriam Baldwin of Belfast has been chosen to participate in Rotary International’s Youth Exchange program during the 2007-2008 school year. She will be traveling to Spain in August, representing the Belfast Area Rotary Club, according to club member Cynthia Dalton.

The daughter of Elizabeth Garber of Belfast, and Peter Baldwin of Brooks, Baldwin is a high honors student, and is currently ranked second in the Class of 2008.

She has studied Spanish for five years and speaks the language with confidence. In her spare time, Baldwin has been studying the idioms of the language to better prepare for her Rotary exchange experience.

Any Belfast student in grades eight to 10 interested in spending a school year in a foreign country should contact the Belfast Rotary Youth Exchange Committee by calling Su Wood at 338-6116. Anyone interested in hosting a student for half the 2007-08 school year should contact Guy Hamlin at 338-0413 or Su Wood at 338-1655.
