UNITY – Four finalists for the SAD 3 superintendent post are expected to be interviewed by the school board in the coming weeks.
The board met Monday night in executive session to discuss the search, but took no action in public session.
Current Superintendent Barbara Mosseau announced earlier this year she would be leaving at the end of June.
Monroe board member Andrea Stark, who is heading up the candidate screening committee, said Tuesday her group interviewed seven of the 17 applicants, and further narrowed the field to four.
“We’re in the process of scheduling those [four interviews with the board],” she said.
The 12-member screening committee consists of four board members and representatives of the staff, administration and the community. SAD 3 is composed of 11 towns in western Waldo County.
Monday night, the board discussed the qualities and qualifications it is seeking in finding Mosseau’s replacement, Stark said.
The board may schedule follow-up interviews with candidates, and visits to the schools where candidates currently work is likely, she said.
Stark said the board is about a week ahead of its self-imposed schedule for finding a new superintendent.
