ORONO – John Mahon has been appointed dean of the University of Maine’s College of Business, Public Policy and Health, effective July 1.

The appointment is subject to ratification by the University of Maine System board of trustees, which will take up the matter at its May meeting.

Mahon’s appointment will be for two years. He will succeed Daniel Innis, who is leaving to become a dean at the University of New Hampshire.

Mahon is the John M. Murphy Chair of International Business Policy and Strategy at the university and currently serves as founding director of UM’s new School of Policy and International Affairs. From 2004 to 2006, he was UM’s interim vice president for academic affairs and provost. An internationally recognized scholar in his field, Mahon has published more than 120 papers and book chapters.
