BANGOR – Staff Sgt. Carol Bragdon of Bangor was recognized recently as the Maine Air National Guard Noncommissioned Officer of the Year, 2006. During ceremonies held in Augusta, Bragdon was recognized for her exceptional work ethic and initiative in developing programs and procedures for the 101st Mission Support Flight and the Wing.

The citation accompanying the award states, “Staff Sergeant Carol L. Bragdon distinguished herself as Personnel Journeyman, 101st Mission Support Flight, Bangor International Airport, Bangor, Maine, from 1 January 2006 to 31 December 2006. While serving on active duty at Pope Air Force Base, North Carolina, she was appointed such positions as ramp services, assistant unit training manager and an information controller in the Air Terminal Operations Center. Sergeant Bragdon’s volunteerism for MPA tours and involvement in her community show great leadership qualities. Her hard work and persistence earned her a five level, completion of PME and pinning of Staff Sergeant in record time. She also has additional career flexibility filling such positions as retirements and separations, enlistments and re-enlistments, customer service, and promotion processing. The distinctive accomplishments of Sergeant Bragdon reflect great credit upon herself, the Air National Guard and the United States Air Force.”

Bragdon regularly volunteering for such programs as Habitat for Humanity, The Neighborhood Watch Program and the Fireman’s Ball in Penobscot County. Her self-improvement goals and accomplishments during the year included graduating from Airman Leadership School, receiving a Notary Commission and pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business management.

She and her husband, David, have two children, Sarah and Stephen.
