McLain leads Witches

BREWER – Jordan McLain fired a complete-game one-hitter, striking out 13 and walking none, and she helped her own cause with a two-run homer as Brewer cruised to a 7-1 high school softball victory over Erskine Academy of South China Wednesday.

Allie Defilipp and Megan McLain tripled for the Witches.

Samantha Morse singled for the Eagles.

At Skowhegan, Sam Bedore and Sam Besse combined to give up four hits and struck out eight Skowhegan batters as the Rams downed the Indians.

Tawnya Godinez recorded three RBIs and a single, and Amy Hackett and Amy Wadleigh tallied two singles and an RBI apiece.

Megan Hancock belted a triple and a single for Skowhegan.

Juliana Fekete singled twice for the Eagles.

At East Millinocket, Chelsea Bates hit an RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning to lead Katahdin of Stacyville past Greater Houlton Christian Academy.

Bates finished with three RBIs while Kaylie Rush added a triple for the Cougars.

Jessica Jago had a two-run single for Greater Houlton Christian.

At Rockport, Mandy Kennedy struck out 10 as Maine Central Institute of Pittsfield held off Camden Hills for the win.

Kara LeGage and Kayla Heal tallied two hits apiece for the Windjammers.

Amy Collinsworth tripled and singled with two RBIs while Hannah Somers added a double for Stearns.

At Corinth, Hillary Haney fired a no-hitter and struck out 10 as Central downed Schenck of East Millinocket.

Kara Voisine and Jocelyn Portman each drove in three runs on a single and a triple. Chantel Randall smacked a single and a triple with 2 RBIs and Erica Brownell chipped in with two singles and two RBIs for the Red Devils.

Ashley Grant tallied an RBI for the Wolverines.

At Orono, Erica Lyford led the way with three singles as Penquis Valley of Milo held off Orono for the win.

Britnee Genthren had a single and a double, and Morgan Royal and Kayla Goodine each notched two hits for the Patriots.

Emily Balaban-Garber singled, tripled and had two RBIs for the Red Riots. Jessica Bates chipped in with two hits.

At Lee, Brooke Harris tossed a no-hitter, allowing only one run with two walks as Lee Academy cruised past Piscataquis of Guilford.

Dana Houghton doubled and singled with three RBIs while Aarika Ritchie doubled and singled with an RBI. Amanda Gifford added a pair of singles with three runs scored for Lee.

At Brewer, Eric White belted a three-run double and Caleb Smith drove in three runs on two singles to lift Brewer past Erskine Academy.

White also hit a single and Bill Bissell notched a two-run single and a double for the Witches. Brad Brown had two singles and Jimmy McNair chipped in with an RBI single.

Nick Grady, Ike Pollard and Derek Derose hit a single apiece for the Eagles of South China.

Mickey Manning doubled and singled with an RBI while Matt Boyle added a two RBI double for Sumner.

At Orono, the Orono Red Riots used an eight-run fifth inning to pull away from Penquis Valley of Milo for the win.

Tony Raymond drove in two runs with a triple and a double, and Ben Perry single, doubled and had two RBIs. Cash Keezer chipped in with two singles and two RBIs for Orono.

Brad Brown and Robert Veno each singled twice for the Patriots.

Kelley finished with a double and a triple and Merrill had a double for the Red Devils. Charlie Haney smacked two singles and drove in a run and Levi Nickerson added a triple and an RBI.

John Sirois and Trevor Violette each recorded an RBI for the Wolverines.

Jeff Robinson singled twice, drove in a run and scored three more for the Pirates while Jarrod Robinson added two singles and an RBI.

Derek Worster doubled and singled for the Pandas.
