Eddington variety show to spotlight local talent

Your response to their request for performers “was terrific,” e-mailed Susan Dunham Shane, co-chairwoman of the fourth annual Variety Show presented by the Eddington Clifton Civic Center.

The show features two performances, at 1 and 6 p.m. Saturday, April 28, at historic Comins Hall, 1387 Main Road in Eddington.

The box office opens one hour before each show, and tickets are just $5 for adults and teens, and $1 for children.

Shane reported she and her co-chairwoman, Ruth Perry, “are excited because we have 20 performers for each show,” with “almost everyone” in both productions.

Participants are 11 to 80, and the entertainment ranges from Nana reading to the kids to country, rock ‘n’ roll and inspirational music.

“Talk about getting a bang for your entertainment buck,” Shane wrote.

“We welcome back many old friends, including Family Blessings, the Fahey Sisters, Rep. Ben Pratt and Ursa Beckford’s pipes, among others,” and Hal Meyers returns in his role as master of ceremonies.

Newcomers include the young band Jolly Rangers, New Renaissance Singers and, for the evening show only, Allison Ames.

If you have difficulty climbing stairs and can’t get to the second floor, watch the show on closed-circuit monitors in the first-floor dining room.

Proceeds help maintain and improve Comins Hall.
