GORHAM – Christen Lachappelle knocked a two-run double to lead the University of Southern Maine to a 15-3 win over Bates College of Lewiston in the second game of a college softball doubleheader Monday.
Bates captured the opener 11-6.
In the first game, Katie Franklin and Stacia Saniuk belted back-to-back home runs to spark the Bobcats’ three-run first-inning spurt. Jill Cappucci added three hits for the winners.
Sabrina Sevigny sparked the Huskies with a two-run double.
In the second game, Sevigny, Chelsie Eugley and Shawna Richard each had an RBI single to key a 10-run third inning for Southern Maine.
Dawn Ross launched a two-run double for the Huskies.
Liz Stahler paced Bates with an RBI triple.
