LINCOLN – Jessica Fortin’s RBI single to right field with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning lifted the Mattanawcook Academy Lynx to a 1-0 softball victory over the Hermon Hawks Tuesday. Ashley Clapp raced home from second base with the winning run.

LINCOLN – Jessica Fortin’s RBI single to right field with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning lifted the Mattanawcook Academy Lynx to a 1-0 softball victory over the Hermon Hawks Tuesday.

Ashley Clapp raced home from second base with the winning run.

Deni Nicastro walked six and struck out nine to earn the one-hit shutout for the Lynx. Kristy Burleigh doubled.

Ashley Kelley allowed just one run on six hits and no walks while striking out 12 for Hermon. Kelley also singled in the second inning.

At Thorndike, Jennifer Masessa hit a two-out single in the bottom of the seventh inning to drive in Tara Bowden from third base and lead Mount View past Belfast.

Allison Abrahamson doubled and singled to knock in a run for the Mustangs and Miranda Grotton had two singles and an RBI.

Lynn Anderson hit a double and two singles to lead Belfast.

At Old Town, Sam Bedore allowed only three hits and one walk and struck out eight to lead the Rams to their fifth victory.

Sam Besse drove in three runs for the winners with two singles and Amy Hackett chipped in with a double, two singles and an RBI.

Hannah Morin, Ashley Goodwin and Sarah Wilcox each singled for Old Town.

At Dexter, Sam Conway hit a sacrifice fly to right field in the eighth inning to score Jana Kenney from third base to give Dexter the victory over Central of Corinth.

Miranda Gold scored the tying run for Dexter in the seventh inning on a Jessica Mason triple.

Mason had a triple and two singles for the Tigers. Katie Poirier singled four times and Kenney added two singles and two RBIs.

Chantel Randall paced Central with three singles and a double with two RBIs.

At Bar Harbor, April Winchenbach hit a two-run single to highlight a seven-run sixth inning as Mount Desert Island defeated Foxcroft Academy.

Eliza Worrick had a double and a single while Miranda McIntire tripled for the Trojans.

Megan Crocker and Kelsey Boss each had a pair of singles for the Ponies.

At Howland, Casey McCluskey doubled in Jamie Milton, who had singled and stolen second, in the bottom of the seventh as Penobscot Valley won its season opener.

McCluskey also picked up the victory in the pitching circle, scattering three runs on three hits and piling up 15 strikeouts.

Kirstie Dawson doubled twice while Lyndsay Drost doubled and singled for the Howlers.

Christin Pelletier slapped a three-run double in the sixth for the Bangor Christian Patriots. Jillian French struck out 12 in the loss.

At Fairfield, Meghan McLain hit a single and a two-run home run in the sixth inning to lead Brewer past Lawrence.

Hailey Smith had two singles and two RBIs for Brewer and Jordan McLain added two singles and an RBI.

Mallorie Blakney hit three singles for Lawrence and Kasey McPhail singled twice.

At Guilford, Sara Pavento pitched five innings for Orono allowing just two hits with eight strikeouts to earn the shutout over Piscataquis.

The Riots’ offense gave Pavento a big cushion before she even threw a pitch, scoring eight times in the top of the first.

Sarah Thibeault had three singles for Orono while Jessica Bates added two. Rachael Joyce and Sam Perkins each singled twice for the Red Riots.

Tracy Dewey and Julia Shaffer each singled for Piscataquis.

At Thorndike, Jon Walsh’s RBI double highlighted a three-run seventh inning as the Lions pulled away from the Mustangs.

Rick Bernosky contributed a two-run double and a single for Belfast, and Jake Arthers added two singles. Dale Dutton earned the win.

Ross Curry’s triple topped the Mustangs.

Phil Dougherty paced the Patriots with two singles and an RBI and Adrian Durkee added two more singles.

At Guilford, Sean Babin hit a two-run single to top a 12-run first inning as Orono cruised past Piscataquis.

Justin Cleaves and Colby Cleaves each drove in two runs on a pair of singles for Piscataquis.

At Lincoln, Travis Estes hit two doubles and two singles and drove in a pair of runs as Hermon earned the road victory.

Zach Deabay added two doubles, a single and an RBI for the Hawks, while Tim Kennerson hit a double and a single and scored four runs. Travis Kane chipped in with two singles and two RBIs.

Estes pitched a complete game for Hermon, striking out seven and walking just two.

Peter Coggins paced Mattanawcook Academy with a two-run home run, a single and three RBIs. Shey Gardiner added a double and two singles, while Aaron Flannery doubled and singled with an RBI and Tyson Tash also doubled and singled.

Shane Adkins paced the Ponies with a triple, single and two RBIs while Josiah Richard notched two singles and an RBI.

Marsh, Morrill and Meklin combined on a six-hitter.

Curtis Chaput had three singles for Waterville and Eli Fitzgerald had an RBI double.
