HOULTON – Two Aroostook County businesses with long histories in the area joined forces Monday when S.W. Collins Co. purchased Almon H. Fogg Co. in Houlton.

S.W. Collins is a fifth-generation, family-owned building supply firm that owns two retail lumberyards in Caribou and Presque Isle, a kitchen and bath center, and a millwork shop. The purchase of the Almon H. Fogg Co. adds a third retail store and expands the geographical reach of the firm.

New products and hardware lines that were once difficult to find in the Houlton area will soon be available at S.W. Collins Co.’s new branch in town, the company said.

“We are very pleased to meld the A.H. Fogg Co. into our family and look forward to better serving the people of southern Aroostook,” said Sam Collins, president of the S.W. Collins Co. “The move to Houlton will enable us to provide customer services and products that are unique to our company.”
