WATERVILLE – Lindsey Toomey and Randi Arsenault pitched back-to-back shutouts to help Colby softball sweep a regular season-ending doubleheader over the University of Maine-Presque Isle 7-0 and 6-0 on Wednesday.
In the first game, Arsenault allowed just two hits and no walks while notching nine strikeouts.
Christine Gillespie had a home run, a double, a single and three RBIs. Essie Widlanski had a double, single, and two RBIs.
In the second game, Toomey allowed four hits while getting four strikeouts and issuing no walks.
Widlanski had three singles, Miki Starr added a double, single, and one RBI; and Palmer had two singles.

Saint Joseph’s, Bowdoin split
At Brunswick, Bowdoin’s Julia Jacobs allowed five hits and shut out Saint Joseph’s 4-0, but the Monks came back to win the second 4-3 to set a team record for wins in a season.
In the first game, Emma Powers hit three singles and Jayme Woogerd had two to lead Bowdoin past the Monks.
Jillian Kimball led Saint Joseph’s with two singles.
In the second game, Colleen Delahanty allowed five hits in seven innings to pace Saint Joseph’s. Kim Bechard had a double and a single to lead the offense. Anna Willis and Amanda Roy each singled twice.
Lauren Coven had a double and a single for the Polar Bears.
