AUGUSTA – Gov. John Baldacci today will present legislation designed to create a Commission to Protect the Lives and Health of Members of the Maine National Guard.

The proposal will be unveiled today at a news conference in the Hall of Flags in the State House.

The legislation would create the commission to review all preventive health care treatment, practices and protocols administered to Guard members.

The commission would assist families of National Guard members who died or were wounded while with the Guard. It also would address the issue of timely and accurate information in regard to the death or injury of a National Guard member.
