SKOWHEGAN – Meghan McLain tripled and doubled to drive in two runs and lift Brewer to a 3-1 high school softball victory over Skowhegan on Thursday.

Hailey Smith drove in a run in the fourth inning on a sacrifice fly for the Witches. Jordan McLain struck out 13, gave up one run, and scattered seven hits.

Megan Hancock had four singles and an RBI for the Indians, and Katlyn Steward recorded 10 strikeouts.

At Lincoln, junior Bree Hanscom hit her first career grand slam in the second inning and later singled to lead Mattanawcook Academy past Foxcroft Academy.

Hillary Pelkey hit a two-run home run in the third inning and a single for the Lynx and Brooke Hanscom tripled and singled.

Deni Nicastro allowed just one run on one hit and three walks while striking out 11.

Kelsey Boss hit an RBI single for Foxcroft and Sam Snyder walked and scored.

At Dexter, Michelle Chapman scattered one run on two hits over seven innings, striking out eight and walking just one to lift Dexter to the win.

Becky Johnson slapped a two-run single in the first inning that was the difference in the game for the Tigers.

Dana Houghton paced Lee Academy with an RBI single and Karin Bird added another single.

At Corinth, Hilary Haney allowed just one hit and two walks while striking out seven to earn the shutout win for Central.

Janalee Hanson doubled and singled with two RBIs for Central and Chantel Randall doubled and singled. Haney hit three singles and Erica Brownell had two singles and an RBI.

Julia Shaffer doubled in the fifth inning for Piscataquis of Guilford.

Rachael Joyce had three singles and an RBI for Orono. Bates hit three singles and Erica Hanson singled and drove in a run.

Brooke Sherer singled and scored for Searsport.

At Milo, Nick Emery had a triple, double, single, four RBIs and three stolen bases to lead penquis past Schenck of East Millinocket.

Robert Veno had a double, two singles, an RBI and two steals for the Patriots. Brad Brown and Cody Andrews each had two singles and two RBIs. Brown had five steals and Andrews had four.

Jon Sirois and Josh Brown each had an RBI single for the Wolverines.

Jeff Mullhull pitched five innings, allowing three hits and striking out 14.

Jacob Morisette singled twice and drove in a pair of runs for the Tigers.

Cory Woodbury had a triple while Keith Aucoin added a two-run single for Greenville.

Brenden Wilson had three singles and an RBI while Tyler Speed had two singles for Central. Charlie Haney had a two-run double and Josh Collins added an RBI single for the Red Devils.

Shane Tracy singled while Nathan Johnston drove in a run for Piscataquis.

Tony Raymond had two doubles and a single to lead Orono and Ben Perry singled twice.

Adam Laird notched two singles and two RBIs for the Lynx. Shey Gardner and Alex Bottarelli added two singles apiece.

Josiah Richard paced the Ponies with two singles and four RBIs. Abe Spaulding had two singles and an RBI and Tyler Weymouth two singles.

At Bar Harbor, Nick Swanson drove in Josh Dellaittre on a two-out single in the bottom of the seventh inning to lead Mount Desert Island past John Bapst of Bangor.

Dellaittre hit an RBI double to tie the game in the seventh for MDI. Ben Clark homered and doubled to drive in two runs. Sammy Stewart tripled and scored a run and Calvin Tweedie doubled and scored.

Alex Yates hit a solo home run in the sixth inning for John Bapst. Tyler King singled twice and Kyle Gallant hit an RBI single.

Chris Maguire singled and connected for his fourth homer of the year for Bucksport. Miles Bisher doubled and singled with two RBIs and Steven Klenowski had two singles and two RBIs. Cam Wadleigh singled twice.

Pat Kelly and Dillon Wilbur singled for Ellsworth.
