SAHS Warriors rally for win Hodgdon rolls past Central Aroostook; Katahdin tips Schenck

DYER BROOK – Evangeline Goodall and Rochelle Nadeau scored in the bottom of the seventh inning to rally Southern Aroostook to a 7-6 high school softball victory over Washburn Friday.

Washburn had taken a 6-5 lead in the top of the seventh when Rachel Palmer singled home Erica McDougall.

Liz Goodall hit two triples and a double for Southern Aroostook, while Kaylea Collier and Sara Crandall each singled twice.

Amber Palmer doubled twice while Rachel Palmer and Kristen Goupille each singled twice for Washburn.

At Stacyville, Ronni Robinson hit an RBI triple to spark the Cougars to four runs in the third inning en route to the win.

Katahdin’s Jasmine Pelletier cranked a solo home run in the fifth and Melissa Duffy added two singles.

Tricia Hobbs singled twice for the Wolverines of East Millinocket.

At Houlton, Felicia Achorn drove in two runs on two singles to lift Stearns of Millinocket over Houlton.

Amy Collinsworth and Adri Eurich each tripled and singled to knock in a run for Stearns. Katie Mills had three singles with an RBI.

Lainey Herring hit a two-run home run in the sixth inning for Houlton and Erica Lackey doubled and singled with two RBIs.

At Mars Hill, Taylor Hovey hit a single and two home runs with four RBIs to lead Hodgdon to victory.

Brianne McGary had two singles and a homer with three RBIs for Hodgdon. Sara Brewer hit three triples and a single to drive in three runs and Amanda Scott singled twice.

Ashley Pryor had two singles and an RBI for Central Aroostook and Ashley Estabrook doubled.

At Old Town, Abbie Sregfriedt hit a single and a three-run double in the fourth inning to lead Erskine Academy of South China past Old Town.

Samantha Morse had a triple and two singles with two RBIs for the Eagles. Ericka Malley had two singles and two RBIs and Amanda Tower singled twice.

Hannah Morin led Old Town with four singles and an RBI. Morgin Cossar and Toni Cole singled twice.

At Newport, junior Patrice Cianchette allowed just two hits and one walk while striking out seven to earn her second shutout of the year and lead Nokomis past Lawrence of Fairfield.

Sammy Moore had three singles and a run scored for the Warriors and Danielle Gray added two singles and a run.

Casey McPhail and Mallory Blakney singled for the Bulldogs.

At Oakland, Sam Bedore spun a no-hitter, getting 11 out of 21 outs on ground balls while striking out five and walking just one as Bangor prevailed.

Bedore doubled, singled and scored a run for the Rams. Amy Hackett doubled, singled, scored two runs and knocked in another while Emily Heath doubled, singled and scored a run.

At Calais, Tessa Clark singled, advanced to second on a wild pitch, moved to third on a fielder’s choice and scored the winning run on a passed ball in the bottom of the sixth inning to lead Calais past Washington Academy of East Machias.

Clark had two singles and an RBI for the Blue Devils and Lindsey Mingo added an RBI single. Senior Stephanie Perry recorded 10 strikeouts and walked none.

Ashley Tilton hit a two-run triple in the sixth inning to lead Washington Academy and Kayla Wood doubled and singled.

At Harrington, Heidi Sappier had three hits and five runs scored to lead Woodland past Narraguagus.

Courtney Cox doubled and singled for the Dragons. Julie Nichols and Ashley Looking both had three hits.

Courtney Foss paced the Knights with three hits and three runs and Kim Greene added two hits.

At Machias, Alyssa Elliott doubled twice and singled to knock in two runs as Machias outslugged Shead of Eastport.

Amber Scoville plated a pair of runs on a double and a single for the Bulldogs while Sam Moody contributed two singles and an RBI.

Dorothy Pottle paced the Tigerettes with three singles and three RBIs. Shelly Melanson had two singles, a double and an RBI and Jessica O’Neill three singles and an RBI.

At Dyer Brook, freshman righthander Dakota Sleeper pitched a five-inning no-hitter with 12 strikeouts as Southern Aroostook earned its fourth win.

The no-hitter was the second in as many days for the Warriors, as Rob Toothaker had a similar effort against Greater Houlton Christian Academy on Thursday.

A second-inning walk was the only thing separating Sleeper from a perfect game, as his defense was errorless behind him.

Sleeper also starred at the plate with two doubles, a single and three RBIs. Dillon Boulier and Clay Lawler added two singles each.

Ashland sweeps GHCA

At Ashland, the Hornets scored five runs in the fourth inning to pull away for a 12-4 victory over the Pioneers in the first game of their doubleheader.

The Hornets rolled to a 20-4 victory in the second game to complete the sweep.

In the opener, Nick Gimbel rapped a double and two singles for Ashland, Tyler Cote added three singles and an RBI, and Tony Baker had two singles and an RBI. Baker also rang up 13 strikeouts and walked three to earn the win.

Ryan Campbell posted a double for Greater Houlton Christian Academy.

In the second game, Kevin Baker’s bases-loaded triple highlighted a 13-run third inning for the Hornets.

Lucas Hafford contributed a double, two singles, and an RBI; Isaac Ward added a double, single, and two RBIs; and Cote put up two singles and two RBIs.

MacKenzie Burns topped the Pioneers with a double, single, and RBI.

At Houlton, Jordan Burleigh spun a no-hitter, walking only one while striking out five as Stearns of Millinocket dealt Houlton its first loss.

Burleigh helped his cause with three singles and three RBIs for the Minutemen. Russ Porter singled three times to knock in two runs and Trent Brown added two more singles.

Jared Anderson allowed three runs on two hits and two walks while striking out eight for the Cougars. Ethan Qualey, Andy Kay, Josh McGraw, Billy Duffy and Anderson each doubled and singled.

Trevor Viollette and Lucas McGowan singled for Schenck.

At Old Town, Adam Fournier allowed two hits, no walks and no earned runs while striking out five in a five-inning complete game as Old Town cruised past Erskine Academy of South China.

Lance Getchell hit three singles and knocked in two runs for Old Town and David Leland had a single and four RBIs. Tyler Cates singled twice to drive in three runs. Tyler Honey had two singles and a double with two RBIs and Fournier singled to drive in two runs.

Mike Crady doubled for Erskine and Travis Cowing added a single.

Alex Gallant hit a two-run homer and a three-run triple for the Rams and Gordy Webb homered twice to drive in four runs.

Tony Jacobs had two singles and two RBIs for lead the Eagles and Nick Fenlason doubled and singled. Josh Gilbert and Ben Seel singled twice.

Steve Harvell slammed a solo home run and added an RBI single for the Eagles. James Dempsey knocked in three runs on two singles; Tom Albert plated four more on a pair of singles and Chris Parent added an RBI double.

Tim McDermott paced Madawaska with a two-run double and Justin Morin added an RBI double.
