After calling the restaurant where his former girlfriend worked 25 times in one hour, hanging up each time someone answered, Derek Conner, 20, of Bucksport reportedly decided to show up intoxicated at the Bangor Mall restaurant.

The manager called police at 12:10 a.m. Saturday to say the man was passed out in the woman’s car located in the parking lot. Bangor police officers found his vehicle parked next to the woman’s car, with an open 12-pack of beer in the back seat.

After police questioned Conner about how he got to the restaurant, he became combative. He was arrested for terrorism, violation of release, possession of a suspended license and refusal to submit.

Because Conner was fighting officers, leg restraints were used. He was transported to Penobscot Country Jail where he remained on Sunday. (Nok-Noi Hauger, BDN)

A man whose blood-alcohol level was nearly three times the legal limit was arrested Saturday night after he crashed his SUV into a guardrail on an Interstate 395 ramp in Bangor.

When two Bangor police officers arrived at the scene around 8 p.m., they saw Brian J. Webber’s blue 2002 Ford Explorer resting on top of a guardrail and facing the wrong way on the westbound I-395 ramp off Main Street, according to the police report.

While one of the officers gave Webber, 35, a field sobriety test, Webber struggled to stand or walk steadily and finally threw his hands up in defeat saying, “Listen, I’m drunk,” according to the report.

When the officers checked Webber’s license they found that it had a restriction that prohibited him from having any alcohol in his system while driving.

The officers arrested Webber, charged him with operating under the influence and transported him to Penobscot County Jail. An Intoxilyzer test later revealed that Webber had a blood alcohol level of 0.23 percent. (Nick McCrea, BDN)
