Porciello holds off Whorff for PASS victory

SCARBOROUGH – Joe Porciello of Lee, N.H., opened the Pro All-Stars Series North Super Late Model Tour with a victory at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway Saturday.

Porciello held off 2006 Oxford 250 winner Jeremie Whorff of Bath to take the victory in the 150-lap race.

Porciello took the lead from Ben Rowe of Turner on lap 37 and then exchanged leads with Cassius Clark of Farmington through the middle laps of the race. Porciello maintained the lead with less than 20 laps to go, but Whorff was gaining. A restart with six laps left gave Whorff a final chance to catch Porciello, but the driver held on for the victory.

Mike Rowe of Turner finished third, followed by Kelly Moore of Scarborough in fourth, Dave Dion of Pelham, N.H., in fifth and Ben Rowe in sixth. Rounding out the top 10 were: Richie Dearborn of Hollis, Mark Patten of Belmont, N.H., Clark, and D.J. Shaw of Center Conway, N.H.

In other racing action, Scott Mulkern won the 100-lap PASS Outlaw Late Model feature and Kenny Harrison finished first in PASS Modifieds.
