PRESQUE ISLE – Danielle Richard struck out nine batters in two games to power the John Bapst softball team to a doubleheader sweep of the Caribou Vikings, 4-2 in the first game and 18-5 in the second.

In the first game, Whitney Sinclair had two singles and scored twice for John Bapst of Bangor.

Kylee Landeen had two singles, a double and an RBI for Caribou.

In the second game, Sinclair, Abby Perkins and Marion Lawrence each had two hits in the sixth inning. Lawrence finished with three singles and a double while Sheila Toomey had two doubles and a single for the Crusaders.

Ali Richards hit a double and a triple for the Vikings.

At Houlton, Megan Korhonen scattered four hits and struck out 10 and helped her own cause with a home run and a single good for three RBIs as Greater Houlton Christian Academy beat Washburn.

Chelsea Lord and Kasey Parker each doubled and singled for the Eagles.

Amy Reed slammed a three-run homer for the Beavers.

At Blue Hill Friday, Hollie Stanwood doubled and singled and scored twice to lead Sumner of East Sullivan past George Stevens Academy.

Morgan Traxler doubled and singled for Sumner and Nicky Sargent recorded 11 strikeouts.

Alida Peake singled twice for the Eagles and Abby Astbury singled and scored.

Mattanawcook 10, MDI 1

At Lincoln, Bree Hanscom tripled and singled to drive in two runs and power Mattanawcook Academy past Mount Desert Island of Bar Harbor.

Michelle Paul had three singles and an RBI for the Lynx. Brooke Hanscom and Melissa West both doubled and singled.

Deni Nicastro allowed one run on four hits while striking out nine and not allowing a walk.

Miranda McIntire tripled and singled with an RBI to pace the Trojans and Chelsea Bothen singled and scored.

At Lee, Ashley Allen hit a double and two singles with two RBIs and lift Calais over Lee Academy.

Lindsey Mingo doubled and knocked in a run for Calais and Courtney Hill singled.

Steph Perry allowed one run on five hits and no walks while striking out seven.

Amanda Gifford had two singles for Lee Academy and Dana Houghton doubled.

Caribou, John Bapst split

At Presque Isle, John Bapst of Bangor scored seven runs in the seventh inning to defeat Caribou 16-14 in the second game. Caribou took the first game 13-3 in six innings.

In the first game, Pat Thibodeau had two singles and a double to drive in three runs for Caribou. Mike Doucette had two doubles and a single and Kyle Corrigan hit two singles and a double.

Nick Hubbard paced the Crusaders with two doubles and a single. Brock Bragdon doubled and singled and Casey Hull singled twice.

In the second game, Nick Smith and Bragdon both had two doubles and two RBIs for John Bapst. Hull hit two doubles and a single and Tyler King singled three times.

Thibodeau knocked in two runs on three singles for Caribou. Jon Noyes had two doubles and a single with an RBI and Justin Bouchard singled twice.
