The 15th annual National Association of Letter Carriers’ National Food Drive will be Saturday, May 12. Residents are asked to leave nonperishable food items in a bag at their mailbox for their letter carrier. Letter carriers, food pantry representatives, and volunteers will distribute the food to local food pantries.
Residents will receive a postcard before the food drive on which they may write their contact information and staple to the bag of food they donate to enter to win prizes from Clear Channel Radio.
The U.S. Postal Service, National Association of Letter Carriers, AFL-CIO, United Way of Eastern Maine, Campbell’s Soup and America’s Second Harvest are sponsoring the food drive.
Volunteers are needed to help load, unload and sort food. To volunteer contact Jessica Richards at 941-2800, ext. 220 or le@unitedwayem.org. For information visit www.volunteersolutions.org
