Rossignol, Haines pace Caribou to win

CARIBOU – Caribou’s Jarryd Rossignol’s three-run double highlighted a five-run sixth inning after Houlton had pulled to within 6-4 with three runs in the top of the inning as the Vikings pulled away for an 11-4 high school baseball victory Wednesday.

Dustin Haines pitched six innings of seven-hit, four-run ball to collect the win before Pat Thibodeau threw a perfect seventh.

Thibodeau had two singles and two RBIs for the winners and Kyle Corrigan doubled and singled and drove in a run.

Rick Stairs had two singles and an RBI for Houlton. Mike Cleary had an RBI double and Josh McGuire had a run-scoring single.

Brian Andrews had a double and two singles with three RBIs for the Tigers. Josh Booth had two singles and two RBIs and Cody Closson singled three times.

Mitch Folsom hit an RBI double to lead the Panthers. James Richard doubled and Sam Clockedile hit a single and scored twice.

Travis Quint hit an RBI single for the Hawks and Jordan Guy singled.

At Caribou, Lainey Herring drove in four runs with a pair of doubles and two singles and Keegan Hovey had four singles and two RBIs to pace a 16-hit attack that carried Houlton past Caribou.

Erika Lackey contributed a double, two singles and two RBIs and she also scored four runs.

Nikki Eastman went the distance to post the win, allowing nine hits and four walks with three strikeouts.

Ashley Doucette had three singles for Caribou. Katie Doucette tripled and singled and Serena Grier singled twice. Each also had an RBI.

At Fort Kent, Angela Norsworthy allowed two runs on five hits and one walk while striking out 12 to lead Presque Isle past Fort Kent.

Norsworthy doubled and singled with two RBIs for the Wildcats and Melissa McGary hit a two-run single in the seventh inning. Tiffany Martin and Keisha Ward hit RBI singles.
