Mustangs score 3 in 7th for win

THORNDIKE – Derek Keller slapped an RBI single through a drawn-in Medomak Valley infield to cap a three-run seventh- inning rally as Mount View earned a 6-5 baseball victory over the Panthers of Waldoboro Thursday.

Kyle McDonald tied the game with a fielder’s choice RBI, scoring Matt Abbott.

Keller finished with two singles for the Mustangs; Ben Raven hit four singles and Cody Raven added two more and knocked in a run.

Dale Winchenbach paced the Panthers with an RBI triple and two singles. He finished with three RBIs. Alex Goldrup added two singles and an RBI.

John Bapst sweeps MA Lynx

At Mansfield Stadium in Bangor, Alex Yates and Nick Smith pitched shutouts to spark John Bapst to a doubleheader sweep of Mattanawcook of Lincoln.

John Bapst won the first game 10-0 and the second 6-0.

In the first game, Casey Hull tripled, double, and singled with an RBI for the Crusaders. Chris Smith hit a three-run home run in the third inning and Kyle Gallant had two singles, two RBIs and two stolen bases.

Alex Yates allowed two hits and one walk while striking four for the shutout.

Tyson Tash and Adam Long singled for the Lynx.

In the second game, Nick Smith hit a two-run triple in the fifth inning for John Bapst. Yates and Jon Gagnon each had two singles and an RBI.

Nick Smith allowed three hits and two walks in seven shutout innings and totaled four strikeouts.

Jake Smith doubled for Mattanawcook while Tyler White and Tash singled.

At South China, Ian Edwards hit a two-run home run in the first inning and a single to lead Bangor past Erskine Academy.

Ryan Larochelle doubled and singled to drive in two runs for the Rams. Shane Walton had a double and two RBIs and Tom Crews doubled.

Josh Carrier and Nick Grady doubled for Erskine.

At Newport, Evan Farley hit an RBI double in the seventh inning to help lead Hampden Academy past Nokomis.

Shawn Smith hit two singles and scored two runs for the Broncos and Patrick Stephens doubled.

Cody Johndro, Jordan Richards and Taylor Gould doubled and singled for Nokomis. Derek Amoroso singled twice.

At Searsport, Kelly Robinson and Katherine Bragg each singled twice and drove in a run to lead the Patriots by the Vikings.

Adrienne Ricci, Monica Alexander and Libby Long each chipped in with two singles for the winners.

Priscilla Robbins singled twice and had an RBI to lead Searsport. Brooke Sherer and Megan Higgins each added run-scoring singles.

At Husson College in Bangor, Deni Nicastro scattered four runs, all unearned, on just two hits while striking out six and walking only two as Mattanawcook Academy of Lincoln edged host John Bapst.

Bree Hanscom doubled and singled and knocked in a run for the Lynx while Kristy Burleigh added three singles and two RBIs.

Danielle Richard knocked an RBI triple for the Crusaders while Kary Harvey singled.

Kayla Eastler led Nokomis with two singles and an RBI.
