Leland helps Old Town hold on, edge Eagles

OLD TOWN – Dana Leland had three singles and two RBIs and earned a victory with three innings of relief as he helped Old Town outlast Messalonskee of Oakland 10-9 in schoolboy baseball action Friday.

Tyler Honey hit a two-run home run and Jarrett Lukas added two singles and an RBI for the Coyotes.

Nick Fenlason had two doubles, a single, and two RBIs for the Eagles. Matt Stuart had a double, single and two RBIs. Joe Dumont and Isaac Guite each had two singles.

At East Millinocket, Jared Manzo hit a two-run triple to help Stearns of Millinocket cruise past Schenck.

Travis Deabay doubled and singled for the Minutemen and Ryan Bolduc doubled. Tyler Emerson tripled and singled.

Trevor Violette singled twice for Schenck.

At South China, sophomore Shawn Smith allowed no earned runs on three hits and five walks while striking out 12 to lift Hampden Academy over Erskine Academy.

Nolan Turner had two singles, two runs and two stolen bases for Hampden. Josh Tardiff singled and had two RBIs while Patrick Stephens hit an RBI single.

Dan Cowling doubled and singled to lead Erskine.

At Milo, Piscataquis of Guilford erupted for nine runs in the sixth inning to overcome a 6-1 deficit and defeat Penquis.

Roy Burdin hit three doubles and drove in two runs for Piscataquis. Brandon Emerson had three singles and an RBI while Jeffrey Robinson added two singles and an RBI for the Pirates.

Kyle Gero hit three singles and drove in two runs while Robert Veno doubled and singled with an RBI. Logan Greenlaw added a pair of singles and an RBI for Penquis.

Victor Quint singled twice for MCI. Matt Stockwell doubled and knocked in a run and Ethan West hit an RBI single.

At Madawaska, Matt Parent singled, stole second and third, and scored on a Keith Vaillancourt fielder’s choice to break a 5-5 tie in a four-run seventh inning before Alex Martin and Craig St. Pierre added RBI singles later in the inning to rally Van Buren to the win.

Parent also had a double and Kyle Chasse had a two-run triple for the Crusaders.

Tim McDermott’s two-run homer and RBI single and Ethan Welch’s double and two singles paced the Madawaska Owls. Welch had an RBI.

At East Millinocket, Christine O’Toole allowed just one run on one hit and two walks while striking out four to lift Stearns of Millinocket over Schenck.

Amy Collinsworth and Mikaela Rosebush each hit three-run home runs for the Minutemen. Deanna Michaud had a double and two singles with an RBI and Becca Leavitt added two singles and an RBI.

Tricia Hobbs hit an RBI single in the first inning for the Schenck Wolverines.

At Milo, Erica Lyford allowed just two hits and no walks while striking out nine to earn a shutout for Penquis over Piscataquis of Guilford.

Lyford had two doubles and two singles with two RBIs for Penquis and Shelby Fowles doubled and knocked in four runs. Amber Benoit and Christin McKenzie both singled twice.

Tracey Dewey and Samara Hooper singled for Piscataquis.
