MADAWASKA – Matt Parent singled, stole second and third, and scored on a Keith Vaillancourt fielder’s choice to break a 5-5 tie in a four-run seventh inning before Alex Martin and Craig St. Pierre added RBI singles later in the inning to rally Van Buren to a 9-7 high school baseball victory over Madawaska Friday.

Parent also had a double and Kyle Chasse had a two-run triple for the Crusaders.

Tim McDermott’s two-run homer and RBI single and Ethan Welch’s double and two singles paced the Madawaska Owls. Welch had an RBI.

At South China, sophomore Shawn Smith allowed no earned runs on three hits and five walks while striking out 12 to lift Hampden Academy over Erskine Academy.

Nolan Turner had two singles, two runs and two stolen bases for Hampden. Josh Tardiff singled and had two RBIs while Patrick Stephens hit an RBI single.

Dan Cowling doubled and singled to lead Erskine.

At Machias, Jeremy Look scored the winning run on a wild pitch in the fifth inning to lift Narraguagus of Harrington past Machias.

Matt Beal and Look each had a pair of singles for the Knights.

Jake Funari had an RBI single for Machias.

At Jonesport, Mike Cummings allowed just two runs on one hit and two walks while striking out seven to lead Shead of Eastport past Jonesport-Beals.

Craig Hastings doubled and drove in four runs for Shead and Joel Francis had two singles and three RBIs. Caleb Ricker doubled with two RBIs and Cummings singled three times.

Cameron Farris singled in the fourth inning for Jonesport-Beals and James Kelley scored both runs.

At Milo, Piscataquis of Guilford erupted for nine runs in the sixth inning to overcome a 6-1 deficit and defeat Penquis.

Roy Burdin hit three doubles and drove in two runs for Piscataquis. Brandon Emerson had three singles and an RBI while Jeffrey Robinson added two singles and an RBI for the Pirates.

Kyle Gero hit three singles and drove in two runs while Robert Veno doubled and singled with an RBI. Logan Greenlaw added a pair of singles and an RBI for Penquis.

Sara Schlicher doubled and singled twice to lead Madawaska. Kallie Pelletier doubled and singled with two RBIs and Ashley D. Cyr added two singles.

Tricia Hobbs hit an RBI single in the first inning for the Schenck Wolverines.
