HARTFORD, Conn. – Greg Doonan, a righthanded pitcher for the University of Connecticut at Avery Point, has signed a National Letter of Intent to play baseball at UMaine next season.
The 6-foot-4, 230-pounder from Wallingford, Conn., features a fastball in the 88-90 mph range and also throws a slider and a split-fingered fastball. He has spent two years at UCAP after graduating from Lyman Hall High School in 2005.
Doonan was on hand for the Bears’ Sunday doubleheader sweep at Hartford. He helped lead his team to a 30-6 regular-season record and a spot in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division II Regionals this spring.
