BLUE HILL – The state Department of Transportation awarded $65,000 to the town for safety and walkway improvements that it hopes will encourage students to walk to the Blue Hill Consolidated School and George Stevens Academy.

The grant will help the town build sidewalks and a footbridge along High Street.
