VAN BUREN – Lindsay Lajoie’s two-run single with two outs in the bottom of the fifth snapped a 5-5 tie and sparked the Van Buren softball team to its seventh straight victory, an 8-6 triumph over Ashland Tuesday.

Karie Ouellette added a two-run homer in the first inning for the Crusaders, while Megan Lajoie had two singles and an RBI.

Whitney Flint had a game-tying two-run home run in the top of the fifth inning as well as a single for Ashland. Amber Mayo contributed a triple and a single, while Jessica Landry singled twice.

At Madawaska, Julie Peers tossed a three-hitter with nine strikeouts and Kylie Mulherin recorded three singles and four RBIs as the Eagles rolled.

Victoria St. Pierre hit a solo homer in the fourth inning and also singled for Limestone Community School/Maine School of Science and Mathematics. Eva Smith hit a two-run single and Melanie Allen tripled.

Sara Schlicher, Ashley A. Cyr and Kallie Pelletier each hit a single for the Owls.

Wisdom 20, Washburn 1

At St. Agatha, Nicole St. Pierre allowed one run on five hits and one walk while striking out eight to lead Wisdom past Washburn.

Kayla Daigle tripled and singled to drive in a run for Wisdom and Deliya Michaud added three singles and two RBIs.

Kelsee McLaughlin drove in Margo McIntosh on a single in the third inning for Washburn.

Central Aroostook, GHCA split

At Mars Hill, Megan Korhonen allowed three runs on three hits and three walks while striking out 10 to lead Greater Houlton Christian Academy past Central Aroostook 22-3 in the second game of a doubleheader.

The Panthers took the first game 11-8.

In the first game, Latisha Neece had three singles and two RBIs for Central Aroostook. Sarah Long singled twice to drive in a run and Alex Dame added an RBI single.

Jessica Jago tripled and doubled to drive in a run for the Eagles. Amanda Livezey had two singles and an RBI and Holly Camillari singled and knocked in a run.

In the second game, Korhonen hit five singles and drove in three runs for the Eagles and Katie Thompson added two-run double. Emma Boutilier and Camillari singled twice.

Robin Graham hit an RBI double to lead the Panthers.

At Madawaska, Limestone Community School/Maine School of Science and Mathematics pushed across a run in the top of the seventh and five more in the eighth to rally for the victory.

Matt Enman started the eighth-inning charge with a double. Danny Hayes then drove him in with a single, and Sam Davidson gave the Eagles some insurance with an RBI double.

James Dempsey singled and scored on an error in the seventh to send the game to extra innings.

Hayes added an RBI double in the first inning for the winners and Steve Harvell chipped in two singles and a double.

Justin Morin paced Madawaska with a double, triple and single to drive in a couple of runs. Nathan Beaulieu knocked a pair of singles and drove in two runs; Ethan Welch doubled and singled while Andrew Deschaine had two doubles and an RBI.

At Mars Hill, Robin Toothaker plated two runs with a double and two singles as the Warriors beat the Panthers.

Clay Lawlor stroked a double and a single with three RBIs and Logan Edwards singled three times for Southern Aroostook of Dyer Brook. Winning pitcher Dakota Sleeper struck out seven.

Logan McCarthy paced Central Aroostook with three singles. Cameron York (RBI) singled twice.

At Van Buren, Kevin Baker hit two home runs, a double, and a single to drive in six runs and lift Ashland over Van Buren.

Nick Gimbel had two singles and a double with two RBIs for the Hornets and Tyler Cote singled twice.

Nick Chasse had a double and two singles with four runs driven in to lead the Crusaders. Craig St. Pierre homered and singled with three RBIs and Keith Vaillancourt singled four times.
