NICK SMITH
Smith, a junior catcher for John Bapst, turned in a .556 batting average with six RBIs and three triples to help the Crusaders compile a 3-0 week. He also earned a pitching victory with a three-hitter against Mattanawcook Academy of Lincoln.
Small School (Classes C-D)
NATE ADAMS
A junior on the Searsport baseball team, Adams pitched a complete game seven-hitter as the defending Class C state champions edged Central of Corinth 3-2 in the first game of a key doubleheader on Saturday. Two days later, he doubled twice and drove home four runs as the Vikings defeated Bangor Christian 9-2.
GIRLS
Big School (Classes A-B)
CATIE CRAVENS
Cravens, a senior pitcher for the Ellsworth softball team, contributed to three wins in the past week as the Eagles moved to 9-0 and No. 2 in the Eastern Maine Class B Heal point standings. Cravens struck out nine and gave up four hits while singling twice with an RBI in a 15-0 win over MDI on May 10, hit an RBI triple in a 6-2 victory over Bucksport Monday, and fanned eight in a five-hit 8-0 win over John Bapst Tuesday.
Small School (Classes C-D)
MEGAN LAJOIE
A senior pitcher for the Van Buren softball team, Lajoie ran her record to 7-0 with four wins this week for the 7-1 Crusaders. She struck out 22 for her 56th strikeout of the season. Lajoie, the leadoff batter, also went 12-for-15 with nine runs scored, two RBIs and six stolen bases.
