Brewer woman reported missing found 2 days later

BREWER – Police confirmed the whereabouts of a missing Brewer mother late Wednesday after searching for her for about two days.

Mellissa Ross, 24, had last been seen about 7 a.m. Tuesday at Labor Ready Inc., a provider of temporary manual labor with a branch office at 380 Harlow St., Bangor.

“It’s important to know that Labor Ready was extremely cooperative,” a police officer said Thursday.

With no leads, police called friends and associates of Ross, working with more than 200 telephone numbers from her cell phone, and eventually word got to her that the police were looking for her.

Ross called Brewer police Wednesday night and told them that she was in Augusta. Police told her that she needed to be seen in person by a police department, even if it was in Augusta, to make sure that she was not in distress.

Shortly after the phone call to Brewer police, Ross paid a visit to the Bangor Police Department around 11 p.m. Wednesday.

Ross has been staying in Bangor. She said that she was “fine but didn’t want to go home,” according to reports.

The search has been called off and her two children remain in Brewer with their father.
