BELFAST – Liz Brown’s RBI double sparked a two-run fifth-inning rally that lifted the Belfast Lions to an emotional 5-3 high school softball victory over the previously undefeated Winslow Black Raiders Thursday.
Belfast took a 3-0 first-inning lead as Brianna Webster had an RBI double and Brooke Reed singled home a run.
Winslow tied the game with three runs in the third, a rally that included a 45-minute delay after Belfast pitcher Stephanie Whittier was hit with a line drive off the bat of Winslow’s Ali Kriegel.
Whittier was subsequently taken to a local hospital where she underwent tests before later being released.
Before she was injured, Whitter had two singles and a run scored. Reed had two singles, a run and an RBI, Brown singled twice with an RBI and Jillian Ross singled twice and scored a run.
Kriegel tripled for Winslow.

Kaylea Collier had a triple and single and Holly Ireland had three singles for Southern Aroostook and each had an RBI.
Tisheena Roy had a pair of singles and an RBI for East Grand and Nikki Tuck doubled.

Kaci Harvey paced the Crusaders with a two-run triple. Hillary Laferriere and Marion Lawrence chipped in an RBI single apiece.
