Neill, Smith lead Broncos past Eagles

HAMPDEN – Joel Neill notched a double, an RBI, and a run scored to lead Hampden past Messalonskee 4-0 in high school baseball action Thursday.

Sophomore Shawn Smith pitched a two-hit shutout for the Broncos.

Nolan Turner added two singles and Harvey Shue tallied an RBI. Justin Kelsey chipped in a single and a run scored for the Broncos.

Isaac Guerette and Ray Bernier each singled for the Eagles of Oakland.

At Lee, Josh Guiggey, Casey Savage and Evan McCarthy each had an RBI single to lead Katahdin of Stacyville to the win.

Travis Linscott doubled and singled twice for Lee, while Tyler Doty singled twice with an RBI and Brandon Crocker singled twice.

Kyle McLeod pitched a five-hitter for Lee, striking out seven batters and allowing no earned runs.

At Husson College in Bangor, Cam Wadleigh hit an RBI triple to pace Bucksport to its ninth victory.

Eddie Robbins added a pair of singles for the Golden Bucks.

Brad Bouchard doubled and singled and drove in two runs for Stearns. Jeff Osborne tripled and singled, Kurt Hamilton and Jordan Burleigh had two singles each, Jeremy Santerre had a two-run double and Jared Manzo had an RBI triple.

At Winkin Complex in Bangor, Tyler Honey slammed a solo homer, triple, and single and scored four times to pace the Coyotes.

Jason Smith had an RBI double for Old Town, Jarrett Lukas a two-run single, and Lance Getchell an RBI single. Cory Wasson earned the win and Dana Leland posted a save.

Justin Downing recorded two singles for the Warriors, and starter Derek Amoroso had 11 strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings.
