Now that Penn National and Cianbro have ended their standoff and sent the hardworking employees of Greater Bangor back to work, I wanted to make sure the Bangor community knows how hard your local legislators worked to ensure the project moves forward. Members of legislative leadership and the Appropriations Committee were met with a nonstop barrage of impassioned lobbying from the legislators representing Bangor and surrounding towns, urging swift negotiation with the developers to get workers back on the job.
You all have reason to be proud of your Bangor area delegation during this process. Representatives and senators from the city and its neighbors in surrounding towns such as Veazie, Eddington and Orono lined up in firm defense of the Greater Bangor community, and are working hard to protect the project and all of the other economic development initiatives that will grow out of it.
When you get a chance, I hope that many of you will thank Sens. Joe Perry and Elizabeth Schneider, and Reps. Dick Blanchard, Pat Blanchette, Emily Cain, Mike Dunn, Sean Faircloth, Dusty Fisher, Jackie Norton and Ben Pratt for working tirelessly to get workers back on the job and keep economic development moving forward in Bangor.
