AUGUSTA – Maine’s unemployment rate was 4.3 percent in April, unchanged from the March figure, state Labor Commissioner Laura Fortman said Friday.
April’s figure is also the same as it was in April 2006. The 4.3 percent rate was slightly better than April’s national unemployment rate for 4.5 percent.
The Labor Department says that between April 2006 and April 2007, the total number of nonfarm wage and salary jobs increased by 2,900 to 618,400.
