BANGOR – The area’s amateur baseball season gets started in exhibition fashion over Memorial Day weekend with a doubleheader Sunday featuring all-stars from Eastern Maine’s Bay League squaring off against Patriot Mutual, the 2006 champion from the Portland-based Twilight League.
The doubleheader of seven-inning games begins at 1 p.m. at Mansfield Stadium in Bangor.
Patriot Mutual includes several players with Division III College World Series experience, according to Bay League commissioner Mark Farnham, while the Bay League squad will draw players from that wooden-bat league’s six teams, including a number of players from area college programs.
