Sales, sales, sales. Everything you ever needed for home, camp or cottage, from plants to pots to put them in and tables to put them on, are available to you through individuals and organizations working to raise money to support their activities and facilities.

So, today, here’s a clip-and-save column for some of those sales, and don’t be surprised if we have even more to tell you as the week continues.

Nancy Herr of the Ruggles House Society e-mailed that the organization is hosting its fifth annual Plant Sale beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 26, at Ruggles House, 146 Main St., in Columbia Falls.

You will find perennials, annual seedlings and vegetable starts that have been donated by RHS members and others, and, if you wish, you can donate plants the day of the sale, or before it, by calling Ellen Tenan at 546-7903.

Proceeds from the plant sale benefit this nonprofit organization to help maintain the historic facility, which was built between 1818 and 1820.

The Federal period house museum is open for the season June 1 through Oct. 15.

Admission is $5 for adults and $2 for children, and guided tours are offered from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sundays, Herr reports.

An announcement from the Waldo County General Hospital Aid organization announces that its annual Yard Sale begins at 8 a.m., rain or shine, Saturday, May 26, in the Education Center of Waldo County General Hospital, 118 Northport Ave. in Belfast.

That report states you will find “treasures galore, at bargain prices, including books, clothing, jewelry, toys, furniture and white elephant items” and all proceeds benefit the hospital.

Church moderator Rick Smith called to let readers know that members of Elm Street Congregational Church will hold their Indoor Yard Sale 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, May 26, at the church, 31 Elm St., Bucksport.

“Basically, we have something for everyone,” Smith said of yard sale items that range from “books to toys and glass.”

From Jerrie Parsons and Patsy Wardwell we learn that the Penobscot Historical Society, which is located on Route 199 in that community, “recently acquired a small, post-and-beam building that was once a store and post office.”

The building, they explained, “was a gift, and will be moved to the grounds of the Society and returned to its earlier functions.

“This will greatly add to the growing historical community being created on the property.”

And, as you can imagine, the Society needs “to raise money to move the building,” the women added.

To help with that effort, the Historical Society is holding a Spring Kick-off Sale and Luncheon from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 26, at the Penobscot Town Hall on Route 175 in Penobscot.

The women want you to know this fundraiser includes pies and baked goods; crafts, plants, white elephant items, books, jewelry and clothing; and also will offer a Chinese Auction featuring “items from the past.”

Sandra Doughty of the Bangor Garden Club e-mailed that its annual Plant Sale will be held from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday, May 26, at Paul Bunyan Park on Main Street in Bangor.

“Perennials are from our members’ gardens,” she wrote, adding that “the proceeds are used for ongoing and new Bangor Garden Club civic projects and plantings.”

Once again Jane Pierce has written to remind readers that “it’s that time of year,” when the Women’s Fellowship is hosting its annual Rummage Sale from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday May 26, at First Congregational Church, 35 Church St., in Brewer.

Pierce wrote that the sale features “many beautiful items along with free coffee,” and wants you to know that “the proceeds not only help our Fellowship, they also help the homeless and needy.”

Justine Mencl of Pittsfield reports trustees of the 1904 Andrew Carnegie-funded library are raising funds “to add space and bring the library up to the 21st century.”

As part of that effort, the Pittsfield Garden Club and other individuals and organizations are hosting a tour of 11 gardens 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, July 14, in and around Pittsfield.
