DYER BROOK – Isaac Ward’s RBI single knocked in Kevin Baker with the game-winning run in the eighth inning to lead Ashland past Southern Aroostook 2-1 in high school baseball action Monday.

The Hornets scored their first run on a Southern Aroostook throwing error in the fifth inning.

Dillon Boulier hit three singles and drove in the tying run for the Warriors in the seventh inning.

LCS/MSSM sweeps Washburn

At Limestone, Matt Enman’s two-run double in the opener and three-run homer in the second propelled Limestone Community School & Maine School of Science and Mathematics past the Beavers 16-6 in five innings and 11-4.

In the opener, Enman’s double, followed by Chris Parent’s RBI triple highlighted a five-run fourth that put the Eagles ahead for good.

Enman finished with two doubles, a single, and four RBIs, Parent posted a triple, double, single, and three RBIs, James Dempsey had a double, single, and three RBIs, Danny Hayes added a double, single, and RBI, and Mike Allen had two singles.

Justin Howe rapped a pair of singles for the Beavers, and Adam Thompson had a single and two RBIs.

In the second game, Enman’s homer turned the Eagles’ one-run lead into a more comfortable margin.

Hayes and Parent each added a two-run homer and a single, Steve Harvell had two singles and an RBI, and Ty Tracy had two singles. Parent tossed a two-hitter with seven strikeouts to get the win.

Sebastian Viola’s RBI single and Ben Goupille’s single were Washburn’s lone hits.

At Fort Kent, two-run singles by Dale Hillegras and Tim McDermott highlighted a four-run first inning as Madawaska built an 8-0 lead and never looked back.

Justin Morin belted a three-run homer for Madawaska and he also singled and Ethan Welch contributed four hits, including a double. Welch had an RBI.

Jesse Guimond had a two-run homer and a single for Fort Kent and Josh Tardif had a pair of base hits and an RBI.

At Eastport, Aaron Sullivan knocked in three runs with a double and three singles as undefeated Shead blanked East Grand of Danforth in five innings.

Tim Reed had an RBI single and RBI double for the Tigers, Caleb Ricker knocked a two-run single, and Jacob Kilton added a pair of RBI singles.

Caleb Dicker singled for the Vikings.

At Hodgdon, Sam Clockedile belted a two-run homer and added a two-run single to lead Central Aroostook of Mars Hill.

Cameron York singled and doubled to knock in three runs for the Panthers, while Logan McCarthy provided two singles.

Jordan Guy had a double and a single for the Hawks. Jeff Door doubled, and Travis Quint singled twice.

At East Millinocket, three Cougar pitchers combined on a two-hit shutout for Katahdin.

Starter Josh Guiggey, who struck out five, singled twice and drove in a run. Reliever Andy Kay recorded three RBIs on two singles for the Cougars of Stacyville, and Evan Qualey doubled, hit two singles, and drove in one run.

Josh Brown doubled for the Wolverines.

Houlton sweeps Calais

At Houlton, Chris Howland pitched a no-hitter, striking out six and walking one, as Houlton swept a doubleheader from Calais 8-2 and 7-4.

In the opener, Levi Prosser and Hunter Caron backed Howland with two-run doubles in a six-run sixth inning for the Shiretowners.

In the second game, Josh McGuire hit an RBI double and Porter Gervais two singles and an RBI as Houlton picked up the sweep.

Ryan Hill added two singles for the winners.

Jordan Leeman and Nick Harmon each singled twice for Calais.

At Limestone, Julie Peers recorded six RBIs, a home run, four singles, a double, and a triple in two games while earning a pitching win in the first as the Eagles swept the Beavers 23-9 and 17-6.

In the first game, Peers struck out nine in a four-hitter. Melanie Allen contributed a two-run homer for Limestone Community School & Maine School of Science and Mathematics. Victoria St. Pierre tripled and singled for three RBIs, while Stacy Bernier homered and singled.

Kelsey McLaughlin and Amber Reed each singled and drove in a run for Washburn.

In the second game, St. Pierre racked up six RBIs on three singles and a double. Peers tripled and singled twice, and Eva Smith hit two singles.

McLaughlin paced the Beavers with a single, a double, and two RBIs, while Erica McDougall hit two singles and drove in two runs. Rachel Palmer chipped in with two singles and an RBI.

At Fort Kent, Elizabeth Morneault hit an RBI double to highlight a four-run first inning that propelled the Warriors.

Winning pitcher Ashley Bouchard had four singles for Fort Kent, while Marissa Albert and Krystal Cyr each doubled and singled twice, and Morneault finished with a double and a single.

Kaylie Cyr paced Fort Kent with two doubles and a single. Steph Nadeau added three singles, while Kallie Pelletier doubled and singled and Kristy Cyr singled twice.

At St. Agatha, Nicole St. Pierre pitched a one-hitter with a career-high 16 strikeouts and singled twice to power the Pioneers to victory.

St. Pierre’s no-hit bid was broken up by Courtney Churchill’s two-out single in the seventh inning. St. Pierre also walked 10.

Deliya Michaud and Kayla Daigle each posted a double and two RBIs for Wisdom.

Chelsea York scattered five hits and fanned 10 for Fort Fairfield.

Andrea Mayo hit a two-run home run in the second inning, and Macy Pelkey and Whitney Flint each had two singles for Ashland.

Calais sweeps Houlton

At Houlton, Stephanie Perry struck out 25 batters over two games as unbeaten Calais took two from Houlton, 13-7 and 12-0.

In the first game, Anna Wilkinson knocked a two-run triple while Lindsey Mingo tallied an RBI triple and RBI single to pace the Blue Devils. Courtney Hill added a single and two doubles.

Heather Hovey had a pair of RBI singles and Lanney Herring a double and a triple for the Shiretowners.

In the second game, Perry pitched a five-inning shutout and aided her cause with a pair of RBI singles.

Wilkinson doubled and singled to drive in a pair of runs for Calais.

Erica Lackey singled for Houlton.

Melissa Duffy singled four times and scored four times for the Cougars, Ronni Robinson notched three singles, and Kali Rush had a triple.

Kayla Gross paced Schenck with a double, single, and two RBIs. Kayla Osborne and Amanda King each had two singles and a double.

Shead, Woodland post wins

At Eastport, Shead defeated East Grand of Danforth in its first game of the day 14-9, but was beaten by Woodland 32-0 in its second game.

In the first game, Whitney Vinson singled twice, doubled, and drove in three runs for Shead. Dorothy Pottle chipped in with a single and three RBIs.

Nikki Tuck notched two singles and two RBIs for East Grand.

In the second game, Heidi Sappier drove in six runs with a double and three singles to lead Woodland. Ariel Knights added a double, three singles and three RBIs and Julia Nicholas singled twice, doubled and drove in two runs.

Vinson doubled for Shead.
