Applications available for blueberry queen

UNION – Applications will be accepted for title of 2007 Maine Wild Blueberry Queen through July 15, 2007. Cash awards will be given to the 2007 Wild Blueberry Queen, Crown Princess and Miss Congeniality. The event, which will be held Aug. 18 and 19, will coincide with Union Fair Week, Aug. 19-25.

Applicants must be single, Maine residents, 17-22 years of age, high school graduates, and available for appearances during reign. They must not hold or vie for another title during the application process, and they must be sponsored by a Maine grower or processor of wild blueberries. Judges will evaluate contestants with written essay, oral presentation and individual interview.
