Big School (Classes A-B)

GREG HIGGINS

Higgins, a junior on the Brewer baseball team, had two big games in helping the Witches improve to 8-5. He pitched a one-hit shutout with five strikeouts and no walks in a 3-0 victory over Skowhegan, then had a two-run double to help lead the Witches to a 13-3 win over Lawrence of Fairfield.

Small School (Classes C-D)

JEFF RAMSDELL

Ramsdell, a member of the Washington Academy of East Machias baseball team, played a key role as the Raiders earned a pair of significant victories. Ramsdell homered, doubled, and scored the winning run in an 8-7 victory over George Stevens Academy of Blue Hill, then had three singles and two RBIs in a 15-10 win over previously undefeated Shead of Eastport.

GIRLS

Big School (Classes A-B)

MEGHAN MCLAIN

McLain, a sophomore third baseman for the Brewer softball team, recorded three singles, a double, and three RBIs in two wins for the 11-2 Witches. She had four hits in a 12-2 victory over Erskine of South China Thursday and did the same in a key 13-1 win over Lawrence of Fairfield Tuesday.

Small School (Classes C-D)

HANNAH BRETON

The Greenville track and field senior won four events at a meet Thursday. Breton took the 100-meter hurdles in 16.97 seconds, the 300 hurdles in 49.69, the pole vault at 8 feet, 6 inches and the long jump at 14-5.
