Bangor man accused of leading police chase

After what police are calling a “threatening case in Etna,” an all-points bulletin was issued Tuesday evening for a vehicle driven by Joseph Collins, 33, of Bangor. When Collins’ vehicle was seen on Main Street in Bangor just before 11 p.m., police attempted to stop him, but Collins took off and reached speeds that were more than 30 mph over the legal speed limit, Bangor police Lt. Jeff Millard said Wednesday.

Collins drove into Brewer, turned onto Acme Road and then down Glidden Lane, a dead-end street near the Eagles Club.

“[Brewer Officer] Rod Gerald saw the guy running in the area of Acme Road,” Brewer police Capt. Jason Moffitt said. “He and a Bangor officer gave chase. They caught him in the woods.”

Collins was transported to Penobscot County Jail and charged with driving to endanger, eluding police and criminal speeding. (Nok-Noi Hauger, BDN)
