James Frost, principal of Bangor Christian Schools, has announced the honor parts for the Class of 2007. The graduation ceremony will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, June 8, in the Bangor Baptist Church auditorium.
Denise Spencer, daughter of Brian and Teresa Spencer of Ellsworth, has been named valedictorian. She plans to attend Grove City College in Pennsylvania to study pre-medicine, music and theater.
She has served as class president, student council president and National Honor Society secretary-treasurer. She was involved with chorus, ensemble and cheering. She received the Maine Principals’ Association Principal’s Leadership Award, was a National Merit Scholar commended student and was recipient of top student awards for many of her subjects.
Spencer is involved with her church, the Family Bible Church in Ellsworth, where she is a student leader, plays piano for worship, and volunteers in the nursery.
Ashley Booker, daughter of Donald and Rachel Booker of Bradford, has been named salutatorian for the Class of 2007. She will attend Husson College in Bangor, having earned a Top Scholar Award. She will study nursing.
She has been involved in chorus, ensemble, worship music group, cheering, student government as vice president of her class, and also vice president of National Honor Society.
Booker organized and participated in many charitable activities. She has received the Society of Women Engineers Achievement in Excellence award, the Bausch & Lomb Honorary Science Award, and was nominated for the Teens Who Care award. She worked as a junior volunteer for the past two summers at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.
