Shead High School

Terry B. Lux, principal of Shead High School in Eastport, has announced the honor parts for the Class of 2007.

Haley A. Richardson, daughter of Doug and Shirley Richardson of Eastport, has been named valedictorian for the Class of 2007. She will attend the University of Maine in Orono to study animal and veterinary sciences.

She has been active as class vice president and yearbook editor, a member of the band, drama club, math team and the softball team. Her community service activities include Big Brothers-Big Sisters, the MS Challenge Walk, Downeast Hospice Walk and Christmas food basket deliveries.

Shawn Hastings, son of Sandi Yarmal and Greg Hastings of Perry, has been named salutatorian. He will attend the University of Maine in Orono to study mechanical engineering.

He is a four-year member of the soccer team and has been active in community food drives.

Melissa L. Farris, daughter of Richard and Tammy Farris of Eastport, has been named to the first honor part. She will attend the University of Maine at Machias to study behavioral science.

She is the president of the Shead chapter of the National Honor Society and has participated in community suppers, the municipal recycling center and Red Cross blood drives.

Branden E. LaPlante, son of Victor and Alice LaPlante of Pleasant Point, has been named to the second honor part. He will attend Southern Maine Community College in South Portland to study architectural and engineering design.

He is a three-sport athlete, participating in soccer, basketball and baseball.

Patricia L. Candelmo, daughter of Anthony Candelmo of Perry has been named to the third honor part. She will attend Husson College in Bangor to study nursing.

She is a three-sport athlete, participating in soccer, basketball and softball, and her community service was with the municipal recycling center.

Craig G. Hastings, son of Sandi Yarmal and Greg Hastings of Perry, has been named to the fourth honor part. He will attend the University of Southern Maine, Portland-Gorham, to study psychology.

He is a three-sport athlete, participating in soccer, basketball and baseball. He is a member of the band and drama club, and has been active in community food drives.
