ELLSWORTH – Ashley Kelley pitched a five-hitter and Hermon scratched out two runs in the top of the seventh inning Thursday to earn a 2-1 Class B softball victory over previously unbeaten Ellsworth.

Monica Gallant and Lily Barry singled to open the Hermon seventh. Kelley had an RBI forceout to tie the game before Barry scored the go-ahead run on an error.

Ellsworth scored its run in the second as Jen Richter walked and later stole home.

Richter also doubled for the Eagles.

At Woodland, Kayla Wood allowed one hit and two walks while striking out 14 to lead Washington Academy of East Machias to the win.

Jocelyn Corey had two singles and two RBIs for the Raiders. Megan Look hit a two-run single and Ashley Tilton added an RBI single.

Ariel Knights singled in the fourth inning for the Dragons and Courtney Cochran walked twice. Freshman Shelby Bassett recorded nine strikeouts.

At Calais, Emily Wilkinson had two triples and a double to drive in four runs and lead Calais past Machias.

Lindsey Mingo hit a home run and two singles to knock in four runs for Calais. Steph Seeley doubled and singled with three RBIs and Ashley Allen had a double and two singles with two RBIs.

Stephanie Whitman doubled and singled for Machias. Sam Moody doubled and Alyssa Elliott added an RBI single.

At Bar Harbor, Katie Dubois walked in the fourth inning, stole second and third and scored the winning run on an error for Mount Desert Island.

Miranda McIntire hit an RBI double for the Trojans. Courtney Bartlett doubled and Clarissa Tinker had an RBI single.

Abby Astbury hit an RBI single for the Eagles and Alida Peake singled.

At Rockland, Melissa Ambridge singled and Tessa Dodge drove her in with a double with two outs in the ninth inning to lead Medomak Valley of Waldoboro past Rockland.

Kayla Vannah allowed just one hit and two walks through nine shutout innings while striking out seven for the Panthers.

Vannah doubled while Missy Kent and Jenn O’Jala each singled.

Kristen Harjula singled in the fifth inning for Rockland.

Abby Perkins had two singles and two RBIs for John Bapst and Richard singled twice.

Lindsay Chase’s double and Kelsey Boss’ single were the lone Pony hits.

White struck out five and walked just two, and also contributed a double, single and an RBI.

Abe Landry added a pair of RBI doubles for Foxcroft, while freshman Ian Champeon contributed a double.
