They may have redesigned “Hell’s Kitchen,” but the new feng shui didn’t do anything to improve Chef Gordon Ramsay’s attitude.

To work in his kitchen you have to be tough, and this season is no different. I think I’ve seen fewer tears at a funeral than I saw in his kitchen the first day. I’ve also never heard anyone say they’re disappointed so often in such a short period of time.

Trust me, it’s one hot kitchen that’s going to leave some chefs running for cover from Ramsay’s scalding personality.

Bonnie, one of 16 contestants vying for the title of head chef at Green Valley Ranch Resort in Las Vegas, admitted her fear.

“He makes me want to pee my pants because he’s scary,” she said. And I agree.

Although “Top Chef” is a favorite of mine, “Hell’s Kitchen” has never been a reality show I’ve followed, but I’ve changed my mind and so should you.

The contestants this season have attitude and are ready to try and take what Ramsay dishes out.

“I’m a bulldog in a Chihuahua’s body,” Eddie said. Luckily for him, Ramsay realizes that Eddie has a good pallet. But will he make a good chef?

Unfortunately, I can’t reveal everything from the first episode. I can tell you that the season is going to be a cliffhanger and the heat gets turned up as the chefs are eliminated one by one.

You all know I try to pick a winner, and though it’s too early to tell for sure, my favorites are Aaron the Asian cowboy and Julia, the line cook with no formal culinary training. Yes, I always have to choose an underdog to root for.

“Hell’s Kitchen” is set to premiere at 9 p.m. Monday, June 4, on FOX. My advice – don’t miss it.

Also, a quick congratulations to Apolo Ohno and Julianne Hough, winners of this season’s “Dancing With the Stars.” I thought Joey Fatone was in it to win it, but Apolo’s athleticism clearly outshined Joey’s showmanship.
