BANGOR – The Memorial Day parade will begin at 10:15 a.m. Monday, May 28, at the Bank of America Building on Exchange Street. It will proceed up Exchange Street, turn left on State Street to Main Street, and left on Main Street to Davenport Park. A commemorative ceremony will be held at 11:30 a.m. at the park.

BANGOR – Vietnam veterans who walk or ride in the Memorial Day parade in Bangor should bring ID in order to pick up a Vietnam War walking stick from the Cole Land Transportation Museum, beginning at 9:15 a.m. Memorial Day when the parade forms on Exchange Street.

BANGOR – Memorial Day activities at Cole Land Transportation Museum, 405 Perry Road, include lunch by the Old Town High School band parents, 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.; World War II veterans can get stickers for their walking sticks 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. and after program; commemoration at 1:15 p.m. includes laying of wreaths at war memorials, keynote speech by retired Lt. Col. Charles Knowlen, Vietnam veteran; USO-type show with Old Town band. After program, World War II and Korean War veterans who do not have walking stick may obtain one. Museum open free after program.

BREWER – A dedication ceremony and unveiling of Brewer’s new Veterans Memorial, located just outside the doors of the Brewer Auditorium, will take place Monday morning before the Memorial Day parade. The public dedication is scheduled for 8:30-9:10 a.m. May 28, and the parade begins around 10:15 a.m. in Bangor. A bus will be available at the end of the ceremony to transport those in the Memorial Day parade. For more information, call Brewer City Hall at 989-7500.

DEXTER – Memorial Day parade will depart the municipal parking lot behind Bangor Savings Bank at 10 a.m. Monday, May 28. It will exit onto Lower Main Street, proceed up Main to the traffic light, turn onto Church Street and march to Dam Street and Veterans Memorial Park, where a service will be held. The Dexter Regional High School band will participate.

FORT KENT – A parade sponsored by American Legion Post 133 and VFW Post 9609 will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, May 27, starting at the Martin Ford garage. The parade will move down East Main Street to Daigle Oil Station and will continue down Pleasant Street to the high school. Refreshments will be available in the high school parking lot and VFW Post. ISLAND FALLS -VFW parade will begin at 1 p.m. Monday, May 28. The procession will start at the Island Falls Municipal Building and march to the cemetery. Anyone who would like to participate is invited to join the parade.

HOULTON – Memorial Day events organized by American Legion Post 47 will start at 9:30 a.m. Monday, May 28, at Soldiers Hill in the Houlton Cemetery. A parade from TD Banknorth parking lot to Monument Park will begin at 10:30 a.m., with ceremonies on the North Street Bridge for those who died at sea. The ceremony at the park will follow.

HOWLAND – Lee Graham Post 97 will conduct Memorial Day services at 11:45 a.m. Monday, May 28, with the participation of Leveille-Shorey VFW Post 9429, and Knights of Columbus Council 5524 of Lincoln/Howland. Company “B” of the Maine 20th will perform a Civil War re-enactment at the following cemeteries:

. 8 a.m. – Seboeis.

. 8:30 a.m. – West Enfield.

. 8:50 a.m. – Passadumkeag.

. 9:10 a.m. – Gould’s Ridge.

. 9:40 a.m. – Lowell.

. 10:05 a.m. – Enfield.

. 10:25 a.m. – Dodlin Road.

. 10:45 a.m. – Edinburg.

. 11 a.m. – Howland.

All units and dignitaries participating in the parade will meet at 11:30 a.m. at the Howland Town Park, with the parade starting at 11:45 a.m. Post 97 Auxiliary will serve breakfast 6:30-7:30 a.m. for all participating in the Memorial Day honors. Hot dogs and refreshments also will be available at the American Legion Mini Park beginning at 10 a.m.

OAKFIELD – Parade will begin at 10 a.m. Monday, May 28, starting at the Oakfield Community Center and proceeding through town to the grocery store. After the parade, a brief ceremony will follow at the cemetery in Oakfield.

OLD TOWN – Old Town VFW Post 3381 and the Ladies Auxiliary invite people to refreshments at 9 a.m. and a parade at 9:30 a.m. Monday, May 28. The parade will leave the VFW Post and proceed as follows: first observance at the Bradley cemetery; second observance at the memorial in Milford Park; third observance at the Memorial Park in Old Town; fourth observance at the Veterans Memorial on Indian Island; last observance at the Memorial at the VFW on Water Street.

ORONO – The Orono Memorial Day Parade Committee parade will begin at 10 a.m. Monday, May 28, at the Orono High School parking lot and proceed down Main Street (Route 2) to end at the American Legion Hall. PATTEN – The Patten Women’s Club organized Memorial Day events, which will begin with a parade beginning at 10 a.m. Monday, May 28, at the Mount Heights facility and proceed to the cemetery for a ceremony.

PROSPECT – Memorial Day will be observed Monday, May 28. The parade will form one mile south of the Intersection of Route 1A and Route 174 by Ray Webb’s barn and begin at noon. The Jerry W. Dobbins American Legion Post 157 from Sandy Point and Stockton will lead off, along with the honor cars carrying veterans and veterans’ widows Lurline Webb, Vivian Smart and Rebecca Maguire. The Bucksport Middle School band will play during the parade and again at the Veterans Memorial in the center of town. The parade will make a short stop at Maple Grove Cemetery for the flag raising and a salute by the American Legion, then continue to the center of town for Memorial Day services.

SHERMAN-SILVER RIDGE – Sherman Area Memorial VFW Post 2299, its Ladies Auxiliary and Junior Girls Unit will hold a memorial ceremony at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 26, at the Silver Ridge Veterans Monument.
