LEWISTON – Christine Ordway of Waynflete in Portland captured her second straight state singles tennis title after winning two matches Monday at the Robert G. Wallach Tennis Center at Bates College.

The top-seeded Ordway defeated No. 3 Hallsey Leighton of Cheverus in Portland in the championship round 6-1, 6-0.

Ordway advanced to the final by beating No. 4 Deahna Giguere of Messalonskee in Oakland 6-0, 6-2 while Leighton advanced by defeating No. 2 Chantalle Lavertu of Lewiston 6-3, 6-3.

In the boys tourney, top-seeded Mike Hill of Mount Ararat in Topsham captured the state title by beating No. 3 Sam Hyland of Falmouth in the final 6-3, 6-4.

Hill advanced by beating No. 4 Mike Von Vogt of Lincoln Academy in Newcastle 6-0, 6-0, while Hyland advanced by stopping No. 2 Neall Oliver of Deering in Portland 6-1, 6-2.
