A Milo woman accused of assaulting her husband was arrested early Sunday when she allegedly became belligerent with police.

Phyllis Emery, 31, was charged with disorderly conduct, refusing to submit to arrest, criminal mischief and assault. Bail was set at $200.

Emery’s husband had two cuts on his neck and told police that when he awoke he found his wife pummeling his chest, Milo Police Chief Michael Poulin said Wednesday.

When Emery was placed into the back seat of a police cruiser, she allegedly kicked a window out of its frame. She is expected to make her initial court appearance on the charges on July 16 in 13th District Court in Dover-Foxcroft. (Diana Bowley, BDN)

It didn’t take Milo police long to solve a burglary that occurred the night of May 24.

Police Chief Michael Poulin said Wednesday that an official of O & R Lumbra Inc. reported two chain saws were taken from the business last week after a door was “shouldered open” to gain entry.

On Friday, police received a call from somebody who reported that Phillip Herbest Jr., 21, had offered two chain saws for sale.

Herbest was arrested earlier this week for Class C burglary after police received a tip that he was traveling with a woman and had one of the stolen chain saws in the vehicle’s trunk. Poulin said the chain saw recovered from the trunk was later identified as one of the two stolen from Lumbra.

The other chain saw has not been found.

Bail was set for Herbest at $300. He is expected to make his initial appearance July 20 in Piscataquis County Superior Court. (Diana Bowley, BDN)
