Big School (Classes A-B)
CASEY QUAGLIA
The Bangor High School senior won the 1,600 and 3,200-meter runs and anchored a victorious 4×800-meter relay team to help the Rams win their first Class A state outdoor track and field championship in 20 years. Quaglia ran the 1,600 in 4:20.65 and the 3,200 in 9:47.80. Bangor’s 4×800 team was timed in 8:04.47.
Small School (Classes C-D)
JAMES BERRY
The Orono High School senior won the pole vault and the 110 hurdles and anchored the Red Riots’ victorious 4×100 relay team at the Class C state outdoor track and field championships. Berry won the pole vault with a best of 12 feet and the 110 hurdles in 15.58 seconds. Orono’s 4×100 relay team was timed in 46.30 seconds.
GIRLS
Big School (Classes A-B)
JORDAN KENNEDY
A pitcher for the NO. 8 MCI of Pittsfield softball team, Kennedy struck out 19 and walked two while allowing just four hits in a 4-3 ninth-inning win over No. 9 Rockland Tuesday in an Eastern Maine Class B preliminary game.
Small School (Classes C-D)
KATE KELLEY
Kelley, the only senior on the Orono girls outdoor track and field team, ran on all three relays as the Red Riots earned runner-up honors Saturday at the Class C state meet. She led off Orono’s second place 4×100 relay and ran second on the winning 4×400 team. Kelley was also third in the pole vault.
