Cool Sounds kicks off June 14

BANGOR – You adore “Elvis” and I love a military band. You’re all about goat cheeses and I can’t get enough of Maine blueberry products.

But what if it rains?

Not to worry. The Bangor Center Corp. has everything under control for the new, extended season of Cool Sounds Concerts in Pickering Square and the Outdoor Market behind the parking garage.

It’s all happening Thursday evenings, June 14-Aug. 2 – rain or shine. If it looks like rain, the fun will move underneath the parking garage. The market operates 5-8 p.m., and the musical performers start swinging 7-8 p.m.

Here’s the concert schedule:

June 14, Flash in the Pans Steel Band, Blue Hill.

June 21, Bruce Nye, “The Elvis Guy.”

June 28, Eric Green Blues Band.

July 5, 195th Maine Army National Guard Band.

July 12, Aurora Jazz Project.

July 19, Evergreen, bluegrass music.

July 26, RetroRockerz.

Aug. 2, Latin Band.

You’ll be glad to know that the Outdoor Market has grown right along with the concert schedule. The 37 venders offer everything from farm products to crafts.

There will be food by downtown restaurants, fresh-baked breads, bread boards, fresh roast coffee, Maine blueberry products, goat cheeses, fresh farm produce, meats and eggs, handmade soaps, hooked rugs, jewelry, apparel, home d?cor items, pottery, stained glass and dichroic glass.
