The identity of the Abbott man who shot and killed himself Tuesday night after wounding his former wife was released Wednesday afternoon by Maine State Police.

Ronny St. Louis, 49, went to his ex-wife’s Dover-Foxcroft home shortly after 8 p.m. Tuesday where he talked to her about reconciling, according to detectives. The couple was reported to have been divorced for about two years.

After an approximately 20-minute conversation on the front lawn of the residence, St. Louis pulled out a handgun and shot his ex-wife, Sherry St. Louis, 50, in the right arm.

She ran into the house and her ex-husband shot himself in the head with the .38-caliber revolver.

Sherry St. Louis spent the night at Mayo Regional Hospital, according to a press release Wednesday from Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland.

Four state police detectives, along with the Dover-Foxcroft Police Department, investigated the shooting, which took place around 8:45 p.m. Tuesday.
